The following image was shared with me by a friend. I thought It was a great observation (Cheers Derek). The top image is the Large Hadron Collider (AKA the big bang machine) as seen from the air. The bottom image is the Ancient Mayan Symbol for eternity, which is a snake biting its tail. The similarities are startling.
If considers that the Mayan Long count Calender will come to an end on the 21st December 2012 and further, that there is a small chance that the Large Hardon Collider may cause a black hole to open up, then we might consider that there is more than just a visual relationship here. In fact if you think about it, the infinity symbol of the snake biting it’s own tail is the perfect way to some up what is being attempted by the whole Large Hardon Collider experiment.
